Surviving A Kidney Transplant

April 15th, 2008 by LoadRunner

To begin with, I am a kidney transplant survivor myself so I know what I am writing about.
In 1992 I was 42 years old. I was also diagnosed with a serious kidney disease.
It is called Polycystic Kidney Disease or PKD. By the time I was diagnosed my kidneys were too far gone to save.
I was told by my doctor that if I was going to have a kidney disease, PKD was the one to have.
I remember the creeping weakness that seemed to control me as my kidneys slowly began to shut down.
After one visit my doctor looked rather shocked and said that he had almost waited too long.
He put me on dialysis immediately. We eventually learned how to do the dialysis at home (my sweet wife being the home helper).

You Better Do It Before You Lose It

April 14th, 2008 by LoadRunner

We all constantly hear over and over, that it is so important for us to exercise. But so many of us do not. My wake up call was when I started getting arthritis at the age of 25 in my wrist. I was a Secretary at that time. I type all day long, and also I typed on a typewriter. Some of you may of heard of those things but never seen one. Back then they did not have all the wrist supporter things they have now. My wrist hung down, and was in a bent position, while my fingers stretch upward. Therefore my wrist started bothering me real bad, started swelling.

Bowflex 50 Dollar Alternative Known As Bodylastics

April 4th, 2008 by LoadRunner

The Bowflex is a popular home gym workout system that incorporates polymer rods for resistance that emulates the typical weights and pulleys used in weight machines. It consists of on fairly large system that includes a bench as well as leg and arm levers. It comes in a much smaller package than the typical home gym, considering that only one unit needs to be purchased as opposed to several different machines. However, the Bowflex carries a high price tag. In fact the home gym system can cost up to 2,000 dollars. Bodylastics is a similar system that also relies on resistance training, but it is available for a mere 50 dollars and won’t take up important space in your home like a larger system will.

What Exactly Is Meditation Anyway?

March 16th, 2008 by LoadRunner

You will get a different form definition of meditation depending on who you ask and where you look. The definition of meditation that I will give you comes from the New Kadampa Tradition of Buddhism. “Meditation is a mind that concentrates on a virtuous object, and which is the main cause of mental peace.”

The purpose is to become more familiar with our thoughts and to have more clarity. The more clearer that we become about our thoughts, the more calmer and peaceful our mind becomes. The easier that it is to recognize the negative thoughts, the easier it becomes to transition your thought patterns in to positive supporting thoughts. This alone

Bodybuilding: Big Calves Without High Rep Sets

January 22nd, 2008 by LoadRunner

“Get big calves with only 10 sets of 20 repetitions every other day”. Just imagine the amount of time required for that program! Unfortunately many calf-training articles preach ridiculously high-repetition sets and training frequencies in comparison to routines for most other muscles. Granted, the calves are a difficult muscle group to increase in muscle mass, BUT/ there is no evidence to support the notion that the muscles respond better to high-repetition and light load training.
